New scanner and MRI in Agde

contributed by Theo Platings

Agde radiologist Pierre-Yves Daclin and his six partners have obtained the official go-ahead from the health authorities to install an additional scanner and a state-of-the-art MRI scanner by the summer. This brings the total to two scanners and two MRIs in Agde alone, which is of course very welcome news.

The group of radiologists has invested nearly €3 million in a project that has been successfully completed. “We currently see 23,000 patients a year, and we’re going to gradually increase our capacity with this new equipment”, says Pierre-Yves, who has seen his field of action and that of his colleagues expand beyond the Agde region, to include the Biterrois and Haut Cantons in particular.

Tthe latest-generation MRI will come into service at the end of May or the beginning of June 2025, Pierre-Yves is delighted with what it will bring in terms of working comfort for the teams – 38 people in all work at the two imaging centres in Agde – but also in terms of diagnosis: “It will be more accurate in osteoarticular, neurology and prostate cancer screening”, he says, adding that the new tools will make it possible to integrate artificial intelligence software, which will be invaluable in providing a second opinion.
